The documentation now says it *does* support high resolution audio. So I take back my detailed answer just submitted. Your audio system has to deal with it, but you can output Dolby Digital plus, etc. See the manual & disable the "mix BD secondary audio" option.

(Even if it did, these would require your audio system to cope with them as well) These are formats like "Dolby TrueHD", aka "Dolby Digital-plus" and "DTS-HD". It does extract the more common lossy encodings like Dolby Digital and DTS. Try googling "high resolution blu ray audio format" for more details.
