• Yes, you can play both regular and Blu-ray DVDs in this player. Regular DVDs get up converted, so they look better than they do when played in a regular DVD player. Still not as good as a Blu-ray though.

• Yes, it plays standard dvd. Also it plays the DVD's that I make at home, from my videoing projects.
