• It is wifi enabled, so no ethernet cable is required. You do need to select a wifi network to connect to, and supply the password if one is required for the network.

• No, it's wireless, our modem is in another room. It's connected only to TV with a HDMI Cable (not provided). The 1st one was defective, but second one works great!

• This unit has built in Wi-Fi but you are always better to connect the RJ45 Ethernet connection when you are streaming video. If you will only use this for music then WI-Fi is fine.
