• Only if you plan on streaming Apps online but you can save your $ and buy a basic Blu-Ray player, If you don't have WiFi but have internet you can run cable from your router to the player if you wish .

• If you want to play dvds or blu rays no you don't need internet. If you want to use additional features like apps then yes you need internet
