- Answer It does have an indicator light when its on(shows green) . On the home screen it shows many apps available. I know Netflix, vudu, hulu, amazon prime, crackle and YouTube are all on there. Can't recall about HBO now. The firmware can be updated whenever Sony updates it.

- Answer Yes. The close captioning follows the player it's being played on(blu ray player not the tv). So the Netflix closed captioning works

- Answer My cable box is connected by HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the TV. The Blu-Ray player gets connected directly into the TV with another HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the TV. I do NOT connect the Blu-ray into the cable box and then into the TV. I hope this helps you.
