Q: QuestionDoes this specific player Sony UBP-X700/M streaming 4K Ultra player region free aka region 0, because it showed over, I think, over 30 of these players which means it will play ANY dvd which also means ALL discs. I would really like to know. Thanks.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thank you for contacting Sony. The UBP-X700/U is preset to play Blu-ray Discs coded for Region A. Region A includes North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia. The player is preset for DVD Region 1, which covers the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories. The UBP-X700/M is NOT region-free for standard Blu-ray or DVD playback. It will only play discs that match the region code printed on the back of the unit (Region A for Blu-ray, Region 1 for DVD). All 4K UHD Blu-ray players, including the UBP-X700/M, are region-free for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. This means you can play 4K UHD discs from any country. Sony does not manufacture or sell region-free or multi-region Blu-ray/DVD players. Any UBP-X700/U unit advertised as "region-free" has been modified by a third party, and such modifications are not supported or covered by Sony’s warranty. Q: QuestionCan this connect to my laptop?
Asked by Jlou97.
- A:Answer Not really - there are ways to get it done, but the DRM might not let it connect. You would need something that honors DRM as an HDMI capture device - and at 4k to boot to get the best value out of it. If you are just looking for a device to watch physical movies on your laptop, there are plenty of great USB based drives that you could utilize and some software like VLC player which can be downloaded for free. Just make sure to get a drive and videos from your "region". You only get so many changes before you get region locked.

Q: QuestionCan I watch DVD's wirelessly on my Smart TV using a HDMI transmitter and receiver?
Asked by ARA2008.
- A:Answer Hi Rita459, thanks for your question! About the HDMI transmitter, we suggest you to use wired connections, since the player is designed to perform with wires, this does not mean it wouldn't work, but you may face some issues with the connections. Once more, it may work, but we recommend you using wired connection instead of wireless. Thanks for choosing Sony! Gus
