A:AnswerHi FreddyM54,
You need a High-Speed HDMI cable that is certified for 4K Ultra HD and supports at least 18 Gbps, although an Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable (HDMI 2.1) is the best choice. Best Buy sells many suitable options; look for cables labeled "4K" or "8K."
Thanks for choosing Sony.
Best regards,
Eliab
A:AnswerHi there, thank you for your question regarding the Sony UBP-X800M2! Our DVD/Blu-ray players, including the model you're inquiring about, are not region-free.
They are manufactured with specific region codes to ensure disc compatibility within designated geographic zones. For players purchased in the U.S. and Canada, they are classified under Region A. This means they are designed to play discs specifically coded for Region A, which includes North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia.
We hope this answers your question, and thank you for considering Sony products!
Best regards,
Dominick

A:AnswerHi Anthony513, thanks for your question. We're happy to help!
Regarding the UBP-X800M2 and 4K Blu-ray movies, the player outputs video at the refresh rate the disc is mastered in, which for most UHD Blu-rays is 24 frames per second (24Hz).
So, while your television is 120Hz capable, the X800M2 will send a 4K@24Hz signal to your STR-AN1000 receiver. The player doesn't output 4K@120Hz for disc playback. Your TV will then handle the display by matching its refresh rate to the incoming 24Hz signal.

A:AnswerWell worth the $300 (Sony will be the last company for Blu-ray players) ***Panasonic*** is more $$$ but not worth it
People — myself included — want physical media without the reliance of the Internet "streaming" (unit lasts 5 years @ 12+ hrs daily) ***audio output with wifi & Bluetooth***
discs are user dependent (I'll have my library for 20+ years)
Sony's hi-res audio is "surprising" eye-opening, above standards (es AVR makes sounds better)
Image = upscaling to full color depth 4:4:4 with 12-bit (1080 standard — then — UHD 4k videos 10 > 12 bit )
- most dvds are 480 (converted to wide 16:9)
- most Blu-ray 480/720 just better sound
- few Blu-ray 1080 @ half color 4:2:0 10 bit (16:9 -or- 21:9 ratios)
- majority of UHD is only 10-bit (upscaled to 12 bit)
***Doesn't apply anymore*** original UBPx800 support streaming services but not anymore (TVs took over streaming = Sony didn't want to pay to keep services @ don't update older APPS if you still want all services)
_____
TVs will upscale the remaining 1080 to 4K (UHD is only 4k from the start)
Build quality is above standards (long lasting drive, great heatsink, strong metal with 2x reinforcement assembly) ***better than x700 version***
