Thank you for contacting Sony, KC. The UBP-X700U is not region-free for standard DVDs or Blu-rays out of the box. Units sold in the U.S. are preset to DVD Region 1 and Blu-ray Region A. However, all 4K Ultra HD discs are region-free by design and will play regardless of where they were purchased. If you have a large collection of international DVDs, you’ll want to ensure they match the region code on the back of the player. We appreciate your interest in Sony products.
