Thank you for contacting Sony, Elaine. Yes, the UBP-X700/U plays both CDs and DVDs. It is a universal player that handles CDs, DVDs, standard Blu-rays, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays. The player itself does not have built-in Bluetooth audio to connect to speakers directly. To use wireless speakers, you must connect the player to a Bluetooth-enabled TV or an AV Receiver/Soundbar first. We appreciate your interest in Sony products.
