• Are you turning it off when not in use with the little slide power button on the right side? If so, and this is still happening, I believe you have a defective unit. I have used my recorder so far for 14 hours of sporadic lecture recording to the internal memory (over the last four weeks) and not recharged it, and while the battery is low, it's not dead yet. I record at MP3 quality.
