- Answer Yes and no. I know it sounds like a non-answer. The device did not support Hi-Res playback for any 3rd party app when it was originally released. Only the official Walkman app would play Hi-Res at their native sampling/bit rate at the time. A firmware update released May 2020 added support for 3rd party apps to play Hi-Res without resampling, version 2.00.05. You can update the firmware OTA like any modern Android smartphone.

QuestionA serious question--why are some MP3 players, such as this one, so expensive? What does this one have that justifies its costs, compared to a much less expensive Sony player?

- Answer It's because this device can play a higher bit rate then the others can which basically means it produces a more detailed sound. For some like my brother those few extra bits are what make or break a quality sound, I can't tell the difference. Lucky for me the density of my wallet and head are in tune for this purchase.

QuestionCould someone tell me why a simple MP3 player goes for 800 bucks? 10 percent of that would still be considered a higher-priced MP3 player. I have a nwz-e436f which I still use to this day so I respect Sony devices for long-lasting quality, But honestly
