The Sony - XB10 Portable Bluetooth Speaker uses Bluetooth to receive the sound from the device, in your case from the TV. If the TV has a Bluetooth Transmitter, then the answer is Yes - it can be used for your husband to put it near by and listen. It has great volume. While many newer TVs have both a Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver, many older and even some new TVs have only a Bluetooth Receiver. If your TV does not have a Bluetooth Transmitter, you can add one that plugs into the earphone jack on the TV. The add on Bluetooth Transmitters range in price, but a low end one can be purchased for around $10 and is probably sufficient for your described use. Look at your TVs specifications to see whether or not it has a Bluetooth Transmitter as well as a Receiver. If you can't find your TV manual or if it doesn't have specifications for Bluetooth, search on the Internet (using your TV's make, model, and product number) for your TV,s specifications.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can do that. The only thing I would check, as I'm not sure if TVs in general have this feature, is the ability to have the sound go through Bluetooth. If your TV have Bluetooth and can send the sound through it you are good to go. Also(!), check to see that if the TV sends the sound out via Bluetooth, it doesn't shut off the sound to the speakers on the TV. In other words, make sure it's not one or the other else you will not get any sound from the TV if this speaker is in use. Another possible way is to use a cable as this speaker has a 3.5mm input jack. But this will be a bit unsightly as you'll have a cable that goes from the TV to this speaker. Kind of a trip hazard. Make sure your TV has a 3.5mm output jack for sound.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure about a tv but when connected to my phone the phone volume shuts off and you can only hear the speaker
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can hear it when it is close to you. It can be turned up or down also.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi boucheebaby, yes it is possible, provided that your TV supports speaker connections via Bluetooth. We recommend checking with the manufacturer of your TV if the said feature is supported. You may check this link for the speaker's specifications: https://docs.sony.com/release//SPECS/SRSXB10BLK_mksp.pdf Thanks, -Mark
