The fingerprint reader hardware is built into the device, it is just disabled by the software. The phone is advertised internationally so they can call it a feature, as long as they write in small text "fingerprint reader disabled in some countries". Nobody has been able to definitively figure out exactly why this is the case, we can only speculate, but if you are thinking about trying to enable it yourself, be warned the process is frustrating.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The fingerprint reader is actually there, but it has been deactivated for the US market. It can be made active but the US warranty will not apply.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the hardware for the sensor still exists in the phone. it is disabled due to a USA licensing issue between Sony and the patent holder of the scanner.. or some such thing. it could be resolved and enabled. or i heard a rumor that loading a EUR rom on this will get it to work. but you will lose a few features.. most importantly one of the radio receivers that use a carrier frequency not used in EUR . so less reception potential depending on location in US. just to scan your finger. do you work for the CIA? ..j/k :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is unlocked and that usually indicates that it is the European version.
