good, but not like promised.Posted .
Dear Sirs, I received my Sony Xperia a few days ago, among other purchases. It was an open box purchase. I am aware of what this evolves. I used the phone and it's working fine. However, I have identified a defect in addition to the fact that the initial buyer has not erased their settings (this is not a problem). The piece that pulls the holder of the sim and nano cards has a broken hook, the SIM card. Notice in the photo that the hook that pulls the memory card (they are 2) is integral, but the only hook that would wrap the SIM card is broken. I've cleaned all the device settings, and I'm sure the source of the device will give me no problems because I bought from Best Buy. However, I want to request that the defective part be replaced. And since it does not require technical intervention or greater difficulties, I ask that you simply send me a new piece, preferably at my address in Brazil, I will indicate below. If it is not possible, you can send it to the same address as the purchase, which is also my address in Brazil. It does not make sense to return the device because of this small problem that does not impede the operation of the device, but as this will be a gift for my daughter, I would be very grateful for the replacement of the broken part. I ad here to Best Buy client for very long and I trust you, and these purchase was my third laptop and 2 smartphones.I would recommend this to a friend

What can I say? I like it.Posted .
When buying a new tech product (like a phone) I try to research what's out there. I usually buy budget phones, but now wanted something that is faster and more reliable. While looking online and in stores I kept noticing the Sony brand. A Best Buy store in the area had the XZ1 on display and on sale, and the phone had some nice features that caught my attention. I’m not a phone expert but I’m somewhat picky about the tech I buy. After owning the XZ1 a few days, I can say I'm glad I paid some extra money and bought this phone. Here’s what I like about it. +Phone feels well-made and buttons are in the right places. Power button is easy to use and to find (indented halfway down on the side). Phone has a bit of weight to it which I like. Some people say design is old but I don’t really care about screens with no bezels or curved corners. I think the design looks good. +Great screen especially for a smaller phone. You might notice 720p on a giant phablet, but it looks just fine on a smaller phone screen. Gorilla glass 5 feels smooth and screen is very responsive. +Compact size makes it easy to use phone with one hand. It’s amazing how much they packed into this small phone. +Has a really fast processor and has 4gb RAM. Hasn’t slowed down, even with multiple apps open. Internet is very fast. Specs are similar to flagship phones. +Nice features like 3D creator, super slow motion camera, two front speakers that are loud, headphone jack (I know, right?), and the latest Android OS called Oreo. Reviews say the OS is close to the original stock version. +Can do PlayStation remote play (lets you play games from your PS4 over Wi-Fi to your phone). Not sure if other phones can do remote play, but this (and other Sony phones) can. Got it working right away and it somehow ran better at a relative’s house than at my place. Games can be played with on-screen buttons but the controller is much better. PS4 controller connected with no problems. +Fast charger. Charged phone completely in about two hours from 1% battery life. Battery lasts a day with normal usage and with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connected to my smart watch. Battery did drain from 40% to 20% in an hour or two the other day while testing the camera and 3D creator, and maybe using a brighter screen. +Works great with my Gear S2 3g smart watch. The watch doesn’t have a phone plan but it can still make and receive calls and texts just fine through the phone’s Bluetooth. +I'm no phone camera expert but the camera seems very good. Phone has a dedicated camera button on the side. When the phone is locked the camera app can be opened immediately by holding the button down a couple seconds. Here are some minor things I don’t like. -About a third of the 32gb storage is taken up by the operating system. -Fingerprint sensor is there (on the power button), but the U.S. version of this phone has it deactivated for some reason. I knew this when I bought it, but the phone demo does have a small section mentioning the sensor feature. People might not know it doesn’t work until after buying the phone. Hopefully Sony will be able to resolve this and have an update to use the sensor. - Have to wait and buy a good case online since the phone isn’t very common. Doesn’t come with any type of case. I think Best Buy sells a case in the store but it might not be for everyone. -The AVG security app pre-installed in the phone has a notification that wouldn’t go away until I force closed the app. It came back when I started the app again. Kind of annoying. Pre-installed apps can’t be uninstalled from the phone but they can be disabled. -3D creator is tricky to use at first. Lighting conditions need to be right and if you mess up you have to start over again. Slow motion camera is grainy in low light and also needs good light to work well. Any high-end phone will seem great when going from using budget phones all the time, but I really do like using the XZ1 Compact. To me this phone is fun to use and is unique. It’s also not bad that the sale price was half the price of some flagship phones.I would recommend this to a friend

Fantastic device!Posted .
First things first... let's start with the negative sides. Which is actually just one: the fingerprint scanner doesn't work on the US devices. I understood it can be enabled by flashing the phone but they say this may actually delete the WiFi Calling and the VoLTE capabilities of the phone. And apart from the inactive fingerprint scanner... everything else works flawlessly: WiFi Calling and VoLTE (as stated above), the phone call quality is well above my Galaxy S8 device, great camera, fantastic battery life (I get 2 days on a single charge), Micro SD card slot, the display is crystal clear, fantastic Stereo sound from the front-facing firing speakers. And is crazy, crazy fast, too. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful device!

Flagship features in a Small PackagePosted .
Things I like: • It is fast. • It is light. • Headphone jack provides great sound with wired headphones. • Loud and clear stereo speakers. • Battery life is great, I was able to go through a whole day wihout a charge. • The phone is smaller than Nexus 5! • Screen changes colors when facing bright sunlight, making it easier to see things outside. • VoLTE and VoWiFi compatibility with T-Mobile! (which is not supported in bigger dual-sim XZ1). • Various useful adjustments in Android (such as automatic DnD mode when you are at work, or disable notification light at night). • Dedicated camera button. • Video quality is great, electronic stabilization helps with panning and clear sound make videos.I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent Compact FlagshipPosted .
If you are looking for a compact, single-hand Android device, there is not a better option. Flagship specs, including a fantastic camera set make this the only real contender in this space. As other users have stated, the fingerprint scanner does not work on the US-spec phone. The hardware is there, but disabled in software due to some agreement Sony has made with Verizon. I was at first disappointed that the fingerprint scanner was not functional, but quickly got over my disappointment as the location-enabled auto-unlock means I rarely have to unlock my phone at home or work anyways. The wide-angle selfie camera is the best I've seen on a phone, and not only takes great pictures, but ensures you aren't stretching your arm into next week to get everyone in the shot. Battery life is good, and I can often go a day and a half on a single charge (though always charge it at night for convenience).I would recommend this to a friend

Fast and CompactPosted .
Originally, I was thinking of getting the pixel 2 because I wanted the latest version of Android (8.0 Oreo). But I found out that the XZ1 Compact comes with Android 8.0 as well and I like the smaller size. The XZ1 Compact packs a lot of features in a small size. I love how fast the phone is with the snap dragon 835 processor, everything loads fast and feels really snappy. The best feature though, is the size. I like how it easily it fits in my pockets and how comfortable it feels. It really is a pleasure to be able to use your phone with one hand. The camera is really good too! The slo mo camera is ridiculously impressive with good lighting. I can't believe a phone can record slo mo better than most DLSR cameras. I got the phone 5 days ago, so I haven't had the phone long enough to gauge how good the battery is. Although, I get about 1.5 days off battery life per charge. Overall I love the phone and highly recommend it.I would recommend this to a friend

Great near stock Android experience!Posted .
I've owned Huawei, Samsung Apple and Sony z3. Overall I'm not a fan of Samsung's bloatwear. Too much unnecessary apps on top of Android and I'm not a fan of the Samsung fanclubs. Whenever people see my phone they are always surprised my compact phone. This phone fits comfortably in the hand and takes great photos during the day and evenings. Only complaint would be battery life. On an excess and heavy day, I'll get about 3.5-4.5 on screen usage towards 5pm. If moderately used, can easily last the entire day. Usually end the day around 7/9pm with 29%/35% battery life.I would recommend this to a friend

Powerful compact flagshipPosted .
Pros: Compact size: can be operated with a single hand. Fast in response. Good looking: constant front color, flat camera lens, rounded corners Extradinary battery life: 18 hours with music playing in headphone, even longer when not used too much. Cons: US version doesn't contain finerprint reader. Camera app works bad in dark condition. Plastic shell easy to collect fingerprints.I would recommend this to a friend

- A:Answer I can confirm Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, and HD voice for the compact on T Mobile.

Q: QuestionAll models available IN THE US I have looked at don’t include the fingerprint scanner. Does this device have a working fingerprint scanner or is it the US model without it?
Asked by Potentialbuyer.
- A:Answer This is a case of Best Buy not doing its "due diligence". This is the US version, which does NOT have a working fingerprint sensor and should not be advertised as having such. You can flash another firmware from Europe or Asia, but you will lose some connectivity features (like Wifi calling and voLTE).
