“Has anyone inserted an active Verizon sim into this to check if it would connect to service? Yes, I know only the XZ2 Compact is officially compatible and the description states it won't work, but I just thought I'd ask since this is a tempting device.”

I tried my verizon sim and it didnt work. SIgnal bars shows up but then went blank seconds later.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It most likely will be allowed, it's just a matter of time. Verizon is no longer using their 3G bands, so no more CDMA network, it is full LTE (sim based). The XZ2 & the XZ2 Compact have the same exact network compatibility so technically the XZ2 should work, but Verizon doesn't allow every phone to work on their network to control where you can buy compatible devices (in other words they want to make money off the hardware as well). Verizon is most likely running it through their "approval process" at the moment.
