Yes, recently used them on a trip. Spoke into it in English and it translated it into Japanese. Perfect? Not likely. Adequate to facilitate communication? Yes. Shows you what you said on the screen so you can re-record before translating if that isn't what you meant. Worked well for our Japanese host who spoke into it in Japanese and it translated into English.
