Yes. But make sure you get the one for the new 2106. The one for the older model is in a nearly identical case I got the wrong one the first time.

I don't think so. I purchased a case for MacBook Pro which is the 2016 model. It did not fit the same case as the old one. The case I purchased is heavier and has more protection from drops and nicks. It is very nice. Unfortunately it cost $99 though. It's worth the money.
