If you are a Star Wars fan who was a child when the franchise was first rolled out, R2 is and always will be "the droid", sorry BB-8. The mannerisms are spot on, and the controls via app are crisp and very responsive with no lag time. R2 is way easier to operate than BB-8, whose head seems to bobble around and sway like he has drunk a little too much. Unlike R2, BB-8 doesn't have a wide range of mannerisms mostly just beeps and shaking his head left to right. In my opinion R2 gives you more bang for your buck than the Disney droids. Sphero paid way more attention to detail with R2 as compared to the Disney droids. If you can only choose one, choose R2. I hope that Sphero produces more remote control droids from the Star Wars franchise (like R5-D4) and a remote controlled Jawa Crawler would definitely be awesome.
