“Is a stacking kit needed to stack the washer and dryer? My manual says it is opptional I have the dv448”

Thanks for the question. If you choose to stack the machines, the stacking kit is required and the dryer should be stacked on top of the washer. Whether you choose to install the washer and dryer side by side, with or without pedestals, or stacked is what's optional. - Ms. Samsung
