“Why does this offer a steelbook case AND 5-day early access if, according to the other answers here, you'll only be able to fully utilize one or the other, depending on if you buy the physical disk OR digital download? That doesn't make sense.”

This is JUST an upgrade. It's primarily for GamePass subscribers to get early access, among other benefits. The steelbook case is empty and does not come with a disc or code of the full game. It's more of a collector's edition without the game. In order to access 5 days early, you must own the digital version of the standard edition, or download from gamepass on August 31st.
