“I have a 10 year old desktop computer, looking to plug Elgato HD 60 S to it. But I get the error code that basically says I need to use a USB 3.0 port. Will this do the trick? Is it truly plug and play, or does it need to be installed into the tower?”

This product is a hub or splitter. It takes one usb 3.0 and makes that one a multi. If your machine doesn't have a USB 3.0 port I don't believe this is what you are looking for. I would look at a USB 3.0 card to install in the computer. Hope this helps.

For the hub to work you MUST have a USB 3.0 port to plug the hub in to. It will work with USB 2.0 but it defeats the purpose of buying a 3.0 hub.
