• You do not need a Smart TV to purchase this device. This device turns your TV regular into a Smart TV. You just need to make sure that your TV has an HDMI or USB drive so you can connect this device. After that you need to make sure you have a wireless network so the Roku can connect. All of this takes minutes and then it will try to program the TV to the Roku remote and then you only need to use the Roku remote. Only downfall is that the remote doesn't have numbers on there. You can only move channels up or down, volume and power. Hope this helps.

• You need an available HDMI port only. If you have a 4K tv get the plus otherwise save the few bucks.

• You don't need a smart TV, but you do need an HDMI port. If you had a smart TV, the Roku stick would not likely be needed. Also, you probably don't need to pay more for 4K HD, as your TV may not accommodate it. There is a Roku stick for about $30, that would meet your needs.
