“Is the head removable? If so what is the thread size? When I travel i like to take one head for both mono and tripod.”

• Yes, the head can come off. It has a standard 1/4 in thread. If you're monopod's attachment bolt can be reversed (most can) from the 3/8 in that is standard for attaching cameras the head should attach just fine. It's what I do with my monopod when I need to use the head.

• It has a quick release plate and a 1/4 X 20 threaded mounting screw for attaching the camera.

• The unit has a removable mounting plate. I don't know the thread size, or if there is a companion monopod that can share the mounting plate.
