Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. No, you will use the QR code on the DVR to set up the remote access on your unit. Your DVR recorder will have to be hard-wired to your router for internet connection. Please let us know how we may further assist you, Thank you. JV Swann Customer Support
