• The cameras are 1080p and there is 2 TB of HDD to record on.

• I recently purchased this camera set, I had cameras installed already that were 850 lines resolution so I thought I was OK. After installing the DVR I connected 1 new camera to see if there was any difference in resolution with these new cameras, and there is. I would say the picture is 1080p ,it was very clear at night and the quality was much better than before. I haven't installed a new camera to answer you playback question but ifor the picture is as good as the live view it will be high quality
