Question 1 is no my setup is my router is downstairs and the tv that the dvr and cameras are hooked to is upstairs. It works good. Question 2 yes unfortunately you will have cables running thru your house cause I have 2 cameras in the front and 2 in the back and also the cable connected to the router. The only way to hide the wires is you would have to go thru the walls ,ceilings and attic my neighbor paid someone to take hers thru the attic and down thru the ceiling in her 2 story house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I moved my router out of my office, next to my tv. The swann dvr comes with two 3’ cables to connect to both your tv and modem, so all devices should all be relatively close to each other. Setup takes some planning and a full day if doing it by yourself. I set up the cameras outside under the eaves and ran all the cables through my attic, then drilled a hole through through the attic floor drywall into the ceiling of a hall closet- since it is directly behind my living room tv. Ran the 6 camera cables through the closet and then drilled another hole through the bottom of the wall, coming out behind my entertainment center, so that they could all connect to the dvr.
