Hi Brandon. This 16-Channel model has space inside the case to accommodate 2 hard drives in total. If two hard drives are installed and one of them fails then the NVR will automatically record to the other hard drive. This model also supports Disk Groups which allow you to designate which cameras are recorded to which specific HDD etc. -SD, Swann team
