The battery will last up to two months between charges, and the night vision is up to 32ft. It diffuses the IR light quite well, so you wind up illuminating the whole area rather than just a bright spotlight in the middle. You can see the night vision here (this is me, in my kitchen, in the dark, probably at 1am). Full disclosure: I am a Swann employee.
