• It stands up, as it has an internal stiffener for that purpose. I have been very pleased with that particular feature

• Mine stands upright. It would depend on how much you load into the front pockets though. As with anything, the more weight you off center, the more likely it will be to tip over.

• the base will lose its stiffness over time. the back pack will eventually fall from tis upright post.
