• The back does not have the same totally finished wood as the rest of the product. I'd describe it as 1/8 to 1/4 inch plywood, but it IS finished to the same color as the rest of the product. The back is actually better looking than some fine, fully assembled pieces of furniture I have in my home.

• The back looks nice, very similar to the sides. However it is a panel, but stained dark like the front & sides. Ours is not against the wall and it looks fine. Attached is photo of the back.
