• There is no statement explicitly addressing standing the player up to play. However, there is no mechanism as part of the disc tray that would keep it in a stable position when closing the tray, unlike the tray in your computer that has a hub to hold it. I can see the disc falling away from the tray as it closes or slipping and getting wedged into the space between the tray and the case, damaging the disc, the unit, or both.
