Yes, I record CBS local shows all the time, as a scheduled recording. You can fast forward ads.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.CBS is available in my local area, so I can record programs. I don't see the ability to set a random timer to record. You will need to pick a program from the Program Guide and record that. If you need a specific time try picking what ever the guide says is on at that time, multiple programs if you need more Length. I can fast forward through ads of recorded OTA broadcasts, but not through the streaming channels.

There are options to start the recording earlier or extend it later. You should be able to rewind and fast-forward anything you've recorded.
