“My TV is a Sony 42" HDTV. I do not have internet access so I use an antenna to draw in 39 channels. Completely happy with this set-up, but would like to know if I can use the Tablo to record programs from my TV. I do not have ROKU or Sling.”

If you don't have any smart device like Roku, then the answer is no. You'll need a device like a Roku, Amazon Fire, AppleTV, etc, or a SmartTV if you want to use it. You'll also need some sort of network connection, as the TV only connects to the device over Wifi.
