The Tablo does not come with a remote. The Tablo does integrate well with the Roku app. Using the Roku remote control you can use all the great Tablo features and access all the menus and options with ease. The Tablo does feature DVR skip but it is sensitive to the quality of the recording. If your favorite television program was recorded on a day where the reception was not great the DVR function will not function. If this is the case, the Tablo will alert you when you click on the program you want to watch. You will have to use the Roku remote to skip forward to avoid commercials. If your program was recorded with a good quality signal the DVR capability works well. In most cases the DVR skip will only let you see 5 secs or less of the skipped commercial

It’s like a DVR; if you want to skip a commercial, you use the TV remote to press the “right” directional button to skip forward approximately 30 seconds for each button press (I have gotten used to pressing the button 8-10 times each to get through all 4-5 minutes of commercials for a program.
