I bought it for my Asus- worked well for a few weeks . Now the fans make noises and I have to hit it to get it to stop-mines defective or something.

Chances are, it will be too heavy for the fans to turn properly. The whole thing is made of plastic and it didn't support my 17.3 HP in the least. The weight of laptop causes the whole thing to bow which puts strain on the fans causing the bearings to go out.

yes it should i have a 17.5" laptop i use for business type forms and it works great with it

It will might be a little small for a 17.3" laptop. Just fits my 15.3" laptop.
