My Best Buy Budget Set Up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this thing! The 4 additional usb ports come in handy could be quieter in my opinion and should be able to turn off fan other than that it's an awesome product

I expected better...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over all- It's just okay. Especially, when I have purchased other objects from Targus at a drastically lower price and had exceptional quality. I am very disappointed and really wished I would have returned it and purchased another one. I don't feel it's worth the price especially with a loud fan and weird grid on the bottom. The best features are it is strong plastic and it does help vent with the ability to raise it-if you can keep it on without it slipping over the front- and the ventilated grill top and sides. And that is even without it plugged in, but of course having it on does help. If anything, at least my lap isn't so hot. Detail- I got this in April. I thought it was going to be amazing with two fans and the usb ports and that it adjusts. I originally purchased because my computer would get extremely hot and the laptop fan was working on overload it seemed like with all the noise trying to cool it down. I wanted something with a good fan that was whisper quiet to help. The fans are louder than my laptop fan. I've had a product like this before with my other laptop and it was super quiet and it was from Targus. I also thought the usb ports would be handy since I only had two and one is messed up; so if the mat was connected, I didn't have an extra port. I really wanted to be able to connect my external hard drive, which I have run off a 2.0 port, but i don't have access when I try it to connect it to the mat.The light comes on like it is connected but I cannot even see the icon to connect. Disconnecting the mat and putting the drive in the same port, the icon comes up and I can view files. I figure it's because the power isn't enough and I need to connect the mat to the 3.0 port, but that is the one that needs to be fixed. I was able to connect- a camera and access photos, my phone and charge it and my watch all at the same time. Even when it is only the drive connected to the mat, it won't work. I need to get the 3.0 port fixed and see if it will work then. It is great that it is sturdy and adjusts to make it more comfortable. However, the lip that keeps the laptop on isn't very high and is a weird curve, so when you have it elevated, the laptop can slip off especially when you move. It does have some grip on the back but my lap top is 14" and so my laptop doesn't even rest of those. It'd be nice if the lip was higher. My laptop bottom curves up and so how it hits the lip and how that is curved, when it's raised it's always sliding off. The bottom of the mat has a grid design which tends to cut in and leave temporary marks. If you grab it a certain way with your hand, it isn't comfortable. The other mat I had from Targus had a smooth bottom and four little rubber pads that helped grip most surfaces and if it was on your lap wouldn't cut in. To adjust it up, you pull up on side by the little flap things until it's where you want. Under there, is a yellow knob that moves and will lock it into place into the notches on either side. To make it go down you have to turn that yellow knob towards you on both sides and try to keep some tension or the laptop drops abruptly and if it doesn't, one side is probably stuck and you have to mess with it to get it flat. Overall, it is just ok and I'd probably advise a friend to get a different one.

Very Nice, but very basic...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great lightweight pad with cooling fans and a 4 port USB hub but... The fans are quite LOUD and the USB hub is as basic as they come, type-1 so don’t expect much more than using as a simple hub for usb dongles, or an additional mouse port, etc... I wanted to connect 2 more monitors through it but... Nope... Not powered. Very nice otherwise.

It works mostly...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I purchased this I wanted a USB hub and my laptop angled upward and taller up off of the desk. It seemed like a nice addition that it had fans. I could only take the fans for about a week and was tempted to return this item. I decided instead to disassemble the USB hub and unplug the fans. The fans have this ear piercing sonic sound that even came through my headphones, the sound was loud and irritating and quite frankly the fans did nothing for my HP Omen laptop. The sound is like a the high pitch noise from a blow dryer. Other smaller complain while build quality as a whole is decent the unit is flimsy but only when being handled especially with the laptop on it. Not a big deal though since it is mostly set it and forget it. Easily a 4 star if had it had a fan switch and was not overpriced at $53 I think it was?

Q: QuestionLoud rattling noiseMy Chill Mat made a loud, rattling noise when I turned my laptop on. I unhooked it but am concerned whether it's unusable. It was a gift from Best Buy - no receipt. Can I return it to them to ask for help? Also, box indicated a User Guide was included -not there. How can I obtain a copy? Thank you.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Mine also makes the same noise and by tapping on the fan areas, it will get better but only temporarily. There seems to be faulty bearings in the fans due to poor manufacturing. I'm not keeping mine. You can try to return it to Best Buy without a receipt, not sure what they will say. If the person used the purchase to earn rewards on their Best Buy card, they can go back to that purchase in their rewards history and you may be able to use that to return it. Otherwise, you may have to contact the manufacturer directly. The noise will only get worse and worse. You can use it that way, though. As for it coming with a user guide, the one I received was only a small pamphlet a few pages long. Nothing that I would consider a user guide and I'm not sure I even kept mine.

Q: QuestionWhat is CFM rating? The most important spec for cooling fans is how much air do they move. The highest I have seen is 76 for the Cooler Master Notepal X3 (which is apparently out of stock) Can you tell me the highest CFM for what is currently in stock?
Asked by Daniel.
- A:Answer Not sure what the manufacturer's CFM is, however, I can tell you by personal experience as an owner. ZERO. I can't even feel the least bit of airflow. Laptop gets hotter, faster. Threw mine into the closet.

Q: QuestionIs this an upgraded version? Mine is a few years old and does have the rattling noise (yes slapping on top of the fan works....but now the part that lifts the lap top is going bad.) Would be interested in purchasing if it is a newer, improved product.
Asked by susan.
- A:Answer No susan, the problems still exist. Might look a little different but the loud rattling noise that most are stating in their reviews is true. My only solution besides unplugging it is the slam method (as you described)
