Kind of both. It is a solid feeling protective cover, but it is not brittle hard. It is soft-ish to the touch as it is a plastic/durable nylon-y type of material, not a hard shiny plastic material.

Great product and highly recommended. Can’t go wrong with the product

I would say it’s more of a hard case.
