“Just received this scale. Pulled the battery strip and put the scale on a hard flat floor. Stepped on it and it showed 0.0. Then some icons moved across the screen from left to right and then the readout went completely blank. Does anyone know what gives?”

You just have to stand on it and it will give the readout. I've used it both with a prefunctory set to 0 and also just stepping on the scale.
