The built-in media player and USB port are design to use moderate sized thumb drives for playing back movies pictures and music. For people with larger libraries, we would recommend using the DLNA function on the TV to stream movies over your network. Some customers have reported being able to use larger hard drives, but may require external power. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
