“When I turn off the tv /cable box with the remote and turn it back on the tv goes to a red screen with a small box showing cable channel live then I have to hit the OK button on the TCL remote to go to a full screen every time I turn it off.”

You can program the TV to power on direct to your cable box input. Here are steps to accomplish this. Please go to the following: Settings>System>Power>Power On>choose which input you would like your TCL Roku TV to power on to. Also, here is a link with more information.
