“Do you need the remote control to use the voice assist? Or does the TV listen? Example if you just call out a Google turn on/off TV. Turn down volume etc.. I’m asking for a blind relative who has trouble finding the remote.”

The TV itself does not have a mic. You would need to use the remote or another connected Google Assistant-enabled device to send voice commands to the TV. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
