“My movie collection is about half-and-half DVD and blu-ray, stored on an external USB device. The audio output of the DVDs is AC-3/2 and the blu-rays DTS 7.1. My current TV will not play DTS audio. Will this TV handle the USB input & the DTS audio?”

The TCL 43Q651G includes a USB port, but it is not designed or advertised as a full media player for movie files with advanced audio formats. It supports basic USB media playback such as JPEG/MP3, and its listed audio passthrough formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital+, Dolby Digital, and PCM. Because DTS audio is not listed as a supported passthrough or decoding format, DTS 7.1 files from your Blu-ray collection may not play with sound directly from a USB drive. Your DVD files with AC-3/Dolby Digital audio are more likely to be compatible, but playback can still depend on the file container, codec, and how the file was encoded. For the most reliable playback of a movie library with DTS audio, we recommend using an external media player, Blu-ray player, or streaming/media device that can decode or convert DTS audio to PCM or Dolby Digital before sending it to the TV.
