“Does this TV come with the AV adapter in the box or will I need a buy one in order to use my old DVD player with composite connections? I see there is an AV port but there is no mention of the actual AV adapter cord in the description/specifications.”

just yellow/white/red as an adapter, not the 5 plug.

If your DVD has the Red/Blue/Green video/Red/White audio interface cable, you will need some type of adapter to connect the DVD to the TV.
