This shouldn't be a problem. The optical audio out port from our TVs will only send what it gets. If the content is stereo it will out put stereo. It would be up to the receiver to up convert the stereo content to surround sound content up the the limits of the receivers encoder. If surround sound content is playing and the AVR is set up correctly, but you are still only getting stereo PCM, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information and a description of what you need help with.
