Not sure about the 617 remote specifically, BUT I was able to successfully pair the "Enhanced Voice Remote" (with headphone jack, voice control button, and TV power/volume) with the Best Buy version of the 55" 6-series (55R615). I bought the remote from Roku's website, since the one that comes with the 55R617 doesn't have a headphone jack, and I really like that feature.
