A:AnswerI just bought my TCL 5 days ago and I am experiencing a random power off every day also. This causes me to fail online games and everyone looses!
A:AnswerNo banding on mine. I hesitated to buy it because of all the fuss about it that I saw online. This is actually a major reason I bought it at Best Buy - they stock the 615 locally so I could pick it up and exchange it if necessary, without having to ship it off... plus I got a great deal on the Best Buy exclusive version, the 615. The 615 just lacks the voice remote of the 617 you see everywhere else.
A:AnswerAbsolutely. I purchased the TCL 5 series 55" and returned it after two weeks and purchased the TCL 6 series (55 inches). And right now, the difference in price between the TCL 5 and TCL 6 series at 55" is only $100.
The difference is the screen. The 5 series sets - while good values- suffer a few significant shortcomings. First, the screen on the 5 series is lighted from the edges. You are never going to get really deep blacks with a screen that is backlighted from the edges. If you run a simple test (there are videos on YouTube) you will see a gray'ish background with areas that are brighter than others - usually at the corners. Running the same test on the six series you see a black screen. BLACK, not gray
The other difference in brightness. And it ties in with black level. The five series can muster around 300 nits. The six series is 2-3x that, depending on how much of the screen.
And finally - and perhaps biggest - is that the 6 series have local dimming (TCL calls it contrast control zones). This lets the TV adjust the brightness very specifically in small areas (I think it's 96 zones on the 55")
Summing it up, for HDR (High Dynamic Range) to work effectively you need a screen that can get very dark and very bright in small, specific areas. The five series is a goof value for sure, but it simply can't get bright enough nor is it responsive enough to take advantage of HDR. It looks the same in HDR as SDR.
Last - while TCL's sets (4, 5 and 6 series) all have a rather limited viewing angle, The 6 series is the best of the bunch on that score. My 5 series set if you moved away from directly in front of the TV even just a little bit the picture quickly degraded. This 6 series has a notably wider viewing angle sweet spot. It's not great. But it is certainly better.
A:AnswerThe support article is correct. Once you connect the Roku Wireless Speakers to your TCL Roku TV you can connect Bluetooth capable smartphones, tablets, or computers. You cannot pair Bluetooth devices such as wireless headphones. However, you can download the free Roku app on your smartphone or tablet to use voice search, voice control, and experience private listening. To enjoy private listening you simply click private listening in the app, and attach headphones to your smartphone or tablet. Or you can use the 3.5 mm headphone jack in the back of the TV to connect standard headphones/Bluetooth headphones with a transmitter. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
A:AnswerThis TV comes with a standard TCL Roku remote. However, you can download the free Roku mobile app on your smartphone or tablet to use with your TCL Roku TV. By using the app you can use voice search, voice control, and experience private listening. In addition, you will also gain access to more settings and Smart features. Hope this helps! A:AnswerThere are options available to adjust the audio settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can find other audio and closed caption settings by going to Home>Settings>Accessibility(for closed caption) or Audio. The remote that comes with the TV also has volume buttons located on the right-hand side. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
A:AnswerThe remote for this version of the TCL 6-series (55R615) does not have a voice-control (the 55R617 sold by other retailers does). However, if you have a Roku voice remote from another Roku device, or purchase one from Roku or another retailer, it should sync up - we were able to sync both the voice remote from our Roku 3 as well as a newer "Enhanced Voice Remote" purchased from Roku directly to our 55R615 from Best Buy with no issues.
A:AnswerThis TCL Roku TV features 3 HDMI ports, one of which is HDMI ARC and is labeled as such on the TV. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
A:AnswerIt is the exact same TV. The only difference is in the remote. The 617 is voice command, where the 615 is not. The 615 is exclusive to Best Buy.
A:AnswerA turntable cannot be connected to any TV. It must be connected to a "Phono" input connection on a receiver or amplifier that has this capability. Some receivers/amps don't have an input for turntable. No other input on the unit will work for a turntable...in other words, you cannot use an 'auxiliary input' to connect the turntable.
A:AnswerI had the same problem, but figured it out... You need to turn on the "standby" option on the CEC settings.
Go to Home>Settings>System>Control Other Devices (CEC)
Make sure the "System Standby" option is checked.
Ta Da!
Hope that helps!

A:AnswerAbsolutely! This TCL Roku TV has a composite (red/white/yellow) input. The composite connection for this is a single input located between the coaxial input and the Headphone Jack. The TV comes with an adapter to connect the traditional red/white/yellow cables you are used to seeing. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
