Typically, going from a 50" to a 55" within the same series will only be a difference in screen size. Our QM6K features more dimming zones, higher brightness, and better overall picture and gaming performance, while the QM5K is the more budget-friendly option. Hope this helps! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For some reason the 50qm5k lacks "game accelerator" mode found on the 55 inch and up TCL qm5k series tvs. The 50" model has fewer local dimming zones than the 55". In TVs lacking local dimming zones, the backlight is a uniformly lit array of LEDs. Local dimming, divides the backlight into zones that the tv can turn down or off in darker areas of the image = much better contrast. Typically, the more dimming zones, the higher the price. Bigger screens in a series will also get more zones, though the zones may be the same size for all screen sizes. TCL unhelpfully often lists the zone number as "up to" some number. The qm6k series adds "filmmaker" mode, a higher screen refresh rate (and an hdmi 2.1 port to support it), and possibly more local dimming zones. See rtings website for a direct comparison between qm5k and qm6k series - their tests showed they are very close in performance.
