I'm not sure which one you're comparing to. I still have a 720P Panasonic from 2006. an a fan of it. It's got some banding but not the pixelation and unnatural edges of the LCD's. That being said, this TV blows it out of the water. It is BRIGHT and the HDR contrast is amazing. The built-in Roku interface is great as well. We had an older Panny plasma in the same room, and we can watch in conditions that would have washed out the plasma so bad we couldn't see it. It's worth the upgrade.
