You can use any size breaker and configure it to use that max breaker. Max breaker you can use is 60 amp for a 48 amp continuous draw for 11 kw charge. You can also configure to use a 50 amp breaker for a 40 amp continuous draw for 9 kw charge or even 40 amp breaker for 32 amps for 6 kw.

60 amp is recommended to be able to use the full capability of the charger.

Remember, circuit breakers are there to protect the wiring from your panel to the EVSE unit. Use the proper amperage breaker for the gauge and length of the run to the charger

The instructions state that up to 60A breaker can be used. The bigger the breaker amperage the faster the charge rate.
