“My car has the cigarette plug power on all the time, even when the car is turned off. So, will this dash cam go into auto sleep mode or do you have to turn it off each time, so it doesn't run down your battery?”

I had this camera originally in a Chevy Cobalt which also had outlets that never turned off. I ended up purchasing the hardwire kit and tapped it into a fuse that switched off with the ignition.

Hi There, With the 12V outlet on constantly the camera will be constantly powered as well. We recommend manually unplugging the camera when the ignition is off to protect your car battery. Kind Regards, Thinkware Customer Support

Mine does NOT power down. I have to unplug it every time I turn the car off for an extended length of time.

I really don’t think so unless the car sets a very long time the drain on the battery should not prevent the car from starting
